Filipina Found Dead in Dubai

The Filipina allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, who strangled her using her own hair and belt, may have been caught in a physically abusive relationship, police and people who knew her told XPRESS.
The victim, Emma Angos Cambalon, 35, from Malita, Davao Del Sur, Philippines, had bruises on the face and neck when police found her body in Al Twar 1 on March 26.
Police arrested E.G., a 40-year-old Filipino bus driver, the victim's boyfriend, on April 15 in connection with the crime and has been charged with premeditated murder.
Cambalon, a mother of four, and E.G., who is also married in the Philippines, had been living together in Dubai for three years.
Before E.G.'s arrest, a picture of Cambalon's bloated face published in the papers on March 30 drew no response. This led police to believe she was an illegal resident, which triggered a massive operation that led to the arrest of 421 overstaying expatriates in Dubai.
Lt Col Ahmad Humaid Al Merri, Director of the Criminal Investigations Section of Dubai Police, said a Filipina overstayer taken by police during the sweep knew the victim and gave police the phone number of the victim's eldest daughter in the Philippines.
"I wished we were able to stop the crime in the first place and save the woman's life and not just solve a mystery of an unidentified body. We could have stopped the crime had her sponsor told authorities that she had absconded," he said.

The daughter gave police her mother's phone number and address in Deira near Al Hamriya. "We put her house under surveillance for a day before the suspect showed up," he said. "He was trying to get rid of her clothes, pictures or any trace of her."
People who knew the couple said their arguments often turned physical. They said she did odd jobs working as part-time hotel staff, but declined to give details.
Lt Col Al Merri said their probe revealed that an argument between the suspect and the victim turned physical on March 26 over an accommodation issue. The suspect told police that Cambalon found their place in Al Hamriya "inappropriate", but the argument heated up and he assaulted her inside his car. He left briefly to cool down.
"When he returned to the car," Al Merri said, "she began complaining about what he had done to her."
E.G. told police Cambalon threw sand at his face, which is when he strangled her using her hair and belt. Cambalon's 17-year-old son Jade, an economics freshman at University of San Carlos in Cebu City, said her mother had not come home in the last six years.
"We just want to see her body home for the last time and give her a proper burial," Jade told XPRESS.

Spirit of Manila Airlines- Cheap flight to Philippines

Spirit of Manila is a low-cost airline operating at Diosdado Macapagal International Airport
which also serve as its main base. According to its website, the airline is flying to Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait as its initial middle east route. Just to check how much low the fare from Dubai to Clark, I called the Manila ticketing office but I was informed that they are only servicing Clark-Taipei route at the moment.

Although the Clark-Bahrain inaugural flight was launched in December  18, 2009, the ticketing agent in Bahrain has stopped issuing ticket and accepting reservation.

In March 31, 2010 RP and Bahrain signed a deal allowing more flights between the two countries. It was not clear though if this will pave way for the resumption of Clark-Bahrain flights.

It the flight will resume, this will be an alternative to congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
OFW from Northern and Central Luzon would have a convenient time travelling home avoiding hustle and traffic in Metro Manila.

Alyansa ng OFW Party List, Presents Platform

Alyansa ng OFW Party, which has been instrumental in lobbying for laws beneficial to overseas Filipino workers, is now a party-list group seeking a seat in Congress.
The party-list, number 76 in the ballot, has lobbied for the passage of the the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipino Act, the Absentee Voting Law, the Anti-Money Laundering Law, and the Dual Citizenship Law. It was active in the campaign to save the lives of Flor Contemplacion and Sarah Balabagan, as well as in the National Anti-Poverty Commission.
The party list, headed by its president, Abolcair “Bong” D. Guro, believes that OFWs themselves must “direct our own force and our own destiny to provide us with what is equally right and equally just for our own bene¬fit and protection.”

Among their platform of government are: the reintegration of OFWs, the implementation and strengthening of the Migrant Workers Act (including legal assistance, safe houses, and immediate repatriation for distressed OFWs), the reorientation of the Overseas Workers Welfare Organization and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration toward OFWs’ welfare, and the enactment of the OFW Investment Incentives Law.

Easter Egg Hunt In Dubai

Children between 3 and 7 can enjoy the exciting and fun filled egg hunting activities from April 1 to 4 at Ski Dubai in Mall of Emirates, Dubai.  Easter Bunny and Eskimo Lou are also joining the fun digging  for easter eggs.

Easter eggs or spring eggs are special eggs that are often given to celebrate Easter or springtime.
The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in celebrations of spring and was adopted by early Christians as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus.

The oldest tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jelly beans. These eggs are often hidden, allegedly by the Easter Bunny, for children to find on Easter morning. Otherwise, they are generally put in a basket filled with real or artificial straw to resemble a bird's nest.

Happy Easter!!
